Maybe you feel really
really
really
REALLY bad right now.
Maybe you feel
lost
down
worthless
hopeless
lonely
and without a clue.
I feel you.
And I won’t insult you with some uplifting one-liners.
But let me point out something that you might be overlooking at this moment.
Right now, while reading this, in this exact minute where you are absorbing these words, maybe looking for a way out, some comfort, a tip or a trick (maybe), or a bit of perspective, right now, in the present, you don’t feel just as bad as when you started to read.
Not as lost.
Not as worried.
Not exactly.
For a few seconds, your awareness has been aimed at something else, instead of keeping the misery alive and the fire of sorrow burning.
For a moment you are not as caught up in the thoughts that make life so crazy and hard.
And you don’t feel as bad, not as lost.
So what am I trying to tell you?
This is not forever.
Because if reading a little blog for a minute or two can take away some of the pain momentarily, if losing your interest in the suffering for a couple of seconds changes your mood (even if it’s a tiny little bit), it means that you are not doomed.
You are not stuck.
Everything that feels bad is not caused by life or your future, but by whatever story you are so deeply engaged in.
It doesn’t mean that the pain isn’t real, but it means that it will not last.
When the story changes, which it always does, the dark clouds will lift.
That’s how it works.
Always.
And I know you know that.
So this is just a reminder.
