So here’s how it goes.
You get something that you really wanted, and it’s amazing.
You get something you’ve been thinking about forever, finally, and it totally stinks.
You get something you never wanted, and it’s wonderful, actually.
You get something you didn’t want, ever, and it turns out to be at least as fucked up as you imagined.
You get something you’ve never thought about, and it’s, hm, okay.
You get something you wanted for a long, long time, it feels amazing, and then it doesn’t.
You get something and then you lose it and it feels like shit and after that, you forget about it.
Or you get something you’ve never thought about, and it’s horrible before it becomes a pivotal thing that changes everything for the best.
Do you see the pattern?
Yeah?
There IS no pattern.
It’s utterly random.
But something about all of this is very, VERY clear.
We have no fucking clue.
No clue about where things will take us.
No clue about what will make us grow.
No clue about what something means, or doesn’t mean, in the grand scheme of life.
No clue about what we need, when we need it, and why we need it.
We have no clue.
We absolutely don’t.
But please, keep on worrying.
Maybe this time you’re right.
