Give the mind what it wants, and it’ll only want more.
Give it nothing and it will haunt you constantly, until you give in.
Or maybe not.
Because there IS a way out (which actually is more of a way in).
It’s stepping away from the noise of the mind, of its enticing assessments of life and all its suggestions to fix what’s seemingly wrong.
It’s becoming aware of the mind instead of being wrapped up in it.
You know this.
You’ve heard about this.
You’ve probably tried it.
And you’re also not doing it most of the time.
Why?
Because you’re using the mind to get rid of the mind.
And it will play that fun game, at least for a bit.
But you can’t ultimately use the mind to get rid of the mind, so as soon as the experience of life starts to get pretty comfortable, simple, and joyful, the mind will return in many creative ways.
Gentle and flattering:
‘Good job, now let’s put this into a method, let’s think about all we can do with it!’
Fear-inducing:
‘This will not last, so let’s prepare for that!’
‘You need me, I’ll protect you!’
Pleasing:
‘I’m important, I know what’s good for you!’
Or extremely close and intimate:
‘Come on, you know I AM you, right?!’
So what happens?
You’ll give it what it wants.
Of course, you do.
Until you realize, deeper than the mind, what’s going on.
And you go inside again.
Haha.
Sweet and amazing idiots, that’s what we are.
