‘If you can’t be at peace right NOW,
you’ll never be at peace,
because now is all there is.’
I just made that up, in the shower.
Or, well, it POPPED up (of course).
And it felt very true.
Also quite impressive and deep, huh?
But who fucking cares?!
Life is not an Instagram account.
Statements like this are nothing but pointers.
They may feel extremely accurate and powerful and beautiful, or totally abstract and stupid and naive.
And even if they seem very true and very wise, they don’t really leave you with much actionable stuff.
It doesn’t work that way.
Happiness is not the result of hard work.
Freedom is not a medal for your efforts.
Joy is not waiting for you at the top of the mountain.
Life is whatever seems to happen, and nothing is excluded.
Nothing, nothing, nothing.
So what can we do with that?
Where’s the control, the molding, the bending, the having it the way we want, the Law of Attraction, the hustling?
Yeah.
All of our sufferings come from resistance, from opposing what is, from the pain of unmet dreams and desires.
There’s not a manual for this.
Self-help books are made of life, just like anything out there aimed at improvement (or anything at all), and there is nothing they can add to what is already absolutely perfect.
Life is already life.
It can’t be better, although it can FEEL better.
But then you’ll have to be at peace, now.
Haha (sorry).
