When people ask me
‘How do I make the right choice?’
I almost always reply with
‘When will you know what the right choice IS?’
Because, well, that is just a fair response.
We don’t know.
We will never know.
How could we?
Is it a week after the REALLY IMPORTANT decision?
Five-and-a-half minutes?
Two years?
A lifetime?
Five billion lifetimes?
We just don’t know.
And like with so many things (which makes it even more bizarre): choices don’t really exist in the world.
Choices are a complete mental fabrication.
They fully rely on your imagination.
They consist of isolating a couple of things in your head and then creating the pressure of having to pick one.
The perfect one, of course.
The best one.
The one you will never regret.
But that is just really unfair, and unrealistic.
There’s literally no way to make the perfect decision, because there’s no way to measure it, ever.
You’ll never be able to compare the outcome of the choice you made… to what would have happened if you’d gone for the alternative.
The life after the choice you DIDN’T make doesn’t exist.
So technically speaking you can’t even MAKE the wrong decision, how about that!
Yeah…
Why am I telling you this, what’s my point?
My point is that life will become a million-billion times easier if you relax a bit around all this heavy decision-making and start following your gut.
Or soul.
Or your heart (whatever concept speaks to you).
Because it knows shit.
It knows shit your head will never ever be able to comprehend.
And it will eventually take away the torturous pressure of having to do the perfect thing, which will result in healthier, happier, easier and more impactful choices.
The irony, right?!
Trying less hard to get way better results.
Now let me get lyrical for a second, to wrap up our little chat.
If you make just ONE conscious decision today, let it be to start listening to the singing of your heart.
No matter what.
It’s the right thing to do.
