{"id":48153,"date":"2022-12-07T14:05:15","date_gmt":"2022-12-07T14:05:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/?p=48153"},"modified":"2022-12-07T14:05:19","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T14:05:19","slug":"learning-to-be-kind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/2022\/12\/07\/learning-to-be-kind\/","title":{"rendered":"Learning to be kind."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>I posted a little video on decision-making.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>About how hard it is to make \u2018the right choice\u2019 when we always have to work with almost zero information and plenty of assumptions (because that\u2019s the truth, plain and simple).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How we have no clue about the connections between everything in the universe and STILL expect our decisions to be brilliant just the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The video was about how difficult it is to be human.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How we can punish ourselves afterwards, and how that can become a painful habit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Never good enough, always failing.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I ended the recording with the suggestion to be kind to yourself and to realize that we all try very hard and do our best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a sweet little message, I guess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inspirational.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And ten minutes later, after seeing it online, I wondered if it could have been better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Five minutes after that I was SURE it could have been better, it SHOULD have been better, especially since it hadn\u2019t harvested any likes yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You see?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Irony in motion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s really very sad, in a way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it\u2019s also pretty funny, somehow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because it\u2019s so incredibly predictable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Machine of Shame, Endless Guilt, and Not Enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So do me and the rest of the world a favor,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and please<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>please<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>please<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>be kind to yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And if you don\u2019t, if you forget, if it seems inappropriate, if it\u2019s just too hard:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be kind afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s never too late, okay?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Omgaan met verkeerde beslissingen...\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WXPiCWPjyI8?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Photo by @marekpiwnicki, for Unsplash)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I posted a little video on decision-making.
