{"id":48028,"date":"2022-10-07T09:09:55","date_gmt":"2022-10-07T09:09:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/?p=48028"},"modified":"2022-10-07T09:10:00","modified_gmt":"2022-10-07T09:10:00","slug":"not-my-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/2022\/10\/07\/not-my-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Not my world."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Almost every time I talk to someone in a coaching setting, especially in the beginning, the topic of \u2018separate realities\u2019 will come up.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s an incredibly important and interesting thing to talk about (and to keep mentioning), because it explains so many things on a human level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it\u2019s also incredibly easy to overlook and dismiss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, because we can only see our world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And we do, every second of every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So even though we can understand and appreciate that fact to a certain extent (which can be incredibly helpful), we still only see our world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That will never change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That CAN\u2019T change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s how this amazing Circus on Planet Earth With Billions of Very Serious Clowns works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a different world for each of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Literally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if you desperately wanted to see life through my eyes and have my experience, you couldn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How would that work?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If I\u2019d describe my experience of the world to you, even in a really detailed matter, you\u2019d still end up with your personal take on that story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your eyes trying to be mine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We obviously use things like filters and preferences and ideologies to create whatever that big-ass event is we\u2019re all living in, so that\u2019s what we experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We see what we see and we hear what we hear, and that\u2019s it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our personal truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Which feels and looks like THE world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So if you talk specifically about your world, and I listen to that, those words and descriptions will be instantly substituted by my versions and definitions of what you&#8217;re telling me, my exclusive take on that, the moment you open your mouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will never REALLY understand the other person and their struggle because we simply don\u2019t live in their world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But that doesn\u2019t have to be a problem, and in many cases, it isn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have a lot of smart solutions and ideas to explain and work around the discrepancies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seeing different worlds is not commonly regarded as seeing different worlds: we just call it \u2018having opinions\u2019, \u2018preferences\u2019, or \u2018being biased\u2019, and we\u2019re used to that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those are all perfect, or at least workable, explanations for what we will never truly understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What CAN happen, though, is a relaxation around the compelling truth that our personal world seems to present, and the option to stop taking that really seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doing so will reveal the only thing we really have in common, 100%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being an amazing creation within consciousness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Photo for @jxndreas, for Unsplash)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Almost every time I talk to someone in a coaching setting, especially in the beginning, the topic of \u2018separate realities\u2019 will come up.
