{"id":47933,"date":"2022-09-23T15:41:29","date_gmt":"2022-09-23T15:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/?p=47933"},"modified":"2022-09-23T15:41:32","modified_gmt":"2022-09-23T15:41:32","slug":"the-gift","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/2022\/09\/23\/the-gift\/","title":{"rendered":"The gift."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>So I woke up this morning.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eyes open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bit of rolling around, sitting up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Legs out of the bed, waiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watching feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wiggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Getting up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I went to the bathroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Petted the cats, fed them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Made coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Smelled coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some more petting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Went back to bed, with coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looked outside the window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grey stuff in the sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Green stuff in the garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drank hot coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Did some reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Got out of bed, and stepped out on the balcony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looked around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cold railing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Birds, neighbors, drilling, hammering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I worked out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Took a shower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Got dressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Went out for some more coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Came back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Had a chat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Had another chat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A lot of words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ate a peach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And two crackers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>None of it really spectacular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And yet, ALL of it very spectacular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INCREDIBLY, mindblowingly spectacular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t get it, and never will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I&#8217;m living it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Limbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boredom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crumbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Itches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yawns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gift we forget about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Photo by @lenstravelier, for Unsplash)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So I woke up this morning.
