{"id":47808,"date":"2022-09-05T12:50:06","date_gmt":"2022-09-05T12:50:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/?p=47808"},"modified":"2022-09-05T12:50:13","modified_gmt":"2022-09-05T12:50:13","slug":"just-another-reminder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/2022\/09\/05\/just-another-reminder\/","title":{"rendered":"Just another reminder."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Can life really be simple?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s life, period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it isn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because it\u2019s life, and it&#8217;s thoughts, and things, and dreams, and changes, and instability, and chronic unpredictability, and all kinds of surprises and illnesses and viruses and tsunamis and earthquakes and mad Russian dictators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it depends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It can BE both, but not at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes life seems incredibly simple and straightforward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And sometimes it\u2019s more like a cruel, loud, and unsolvable puzzle that constantly needs our attention while we\u2019re stumbling around in the dark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I guess most of us are looking for moments where simplicity strikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although it\u2019s not, per se, that we\u2019d call it that way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We talk about success, freedom, confidence, joy, happiness, belonging, peace of mind, or some sort of stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A sense of being unshaken, unscathed, and untouched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An intrinsic safety based on natural trust, as a result of the thing we THINK we want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But that IS simplicity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beauty is simplicity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Love is simplicity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being is simplicity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This morning I read some pages in a random spiritual book, that pointed out that life is only always exactly what happens, and nothing else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suffering is in the resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the not-wanting what is, the refusal of reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve EVER been involved in any kind of spiritual movement or idea or book, you must have come across this observation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And maybe it touched you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe something shifted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe it made sense on a deep level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People always write and speak about surrendering, letting go, and grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course they do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If from now on you\u2019d never again feel any resistance towards anything that happens in your life, a tremendous amount of freedom would be your sweet reward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019d accept EVERYTHING 100%, all the time, there\u2019d be nothing left but flow and flow and more flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s so obvious that it almost hurts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s insultingly simple, and it\u2019s also the hardest thing in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You know what I&#8217;m talking about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes we just see this, and we know, we KNOW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a minute, maybe half an hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And then the mind, our personal complexity machine, will start up again, chopping up what\u2019s essentially one, clouding what\u2019s basically clear, and creating havoc where there\u2019s nothing but stuff, happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes we see that the complexity is actually part of what\u2019s so simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And we just stop trying to solve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How glorious to find out that life still goes on!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Photo by @vlado, for Unsplash)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Can life really be simple?
