In theory, it would be fairly simple to write blogs as I do.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you analyze them there\u2019s plenty to hold on to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s go through the different requirements and elements that are obviously there, and see where it takes us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In general and without compromise: only use single sentences, with white space in between.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So no paragraphs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Write frantically and be confused and write frantically about that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Be curious, be unapologetic, be confused again, be deeply relieved and grateful, and be especially unconcerned about whether all of that\u2019s interesting or not, or if it makes sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just share that shit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curse a lot, and curse fully and openly, for f*ck\u2019s sake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Did I mention the single sentences?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I did?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the space between them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Okay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use single words as sentences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use words in CAPITAL letters, here and there, now and then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And sprinkle the whole enchilada with things like \u2018hahaha\u2019, \u2018yeah\u2019, \u2018uhu\u2019, or \u2018ugh\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

End it with an extra bit of space, and then REALLY, ultimately end it with a provocative question, remark, or conclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Marnix formula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simple and straightforward, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yeah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But here\u2019s the interesting thing: do you think that a person who\u2019s used to reading my blogs and appreciates them, would know the difference between a story I personally wrote, and something that\u2019s written by someone else, using this set of rules?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I guess you do, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uhu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s exactly where formulas fall apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They might be accurate in a black and white kind of way, but they probably lack the essence and the spirit of the real deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019re simply reverse-engineered descriptions of steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that\u2019s not how it really works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You see, I don\u2019t follow the rules I just pointed out to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I HAVE no rules (that\u2019s also why I can\u2019t teach writing, I guess).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the things you normally find in most of my blogs are spontaneous inventions, things that somehow grew from my explorations, and stuck around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greatest Hits, you could say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those things arose and arise from my state of being when I write, but they\u2019re not essential for the end result, and I\u2019m sure I could write a blog without most of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The quality and energy of my writing come from what I feel while writing, not from rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now I guess you can see what I did here, regarding my blogs and how they come about, but there\u2019s a bigger point at stake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This whole formula thing is universal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trying to look or sound like somebody else will only work for the appearance of the output, but not for the unique energy behind it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Extraordinary painters and poets and musicians don\u2019t consist of their works of art or their creative pieces: those things are infused with their soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s not math.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s not just mimicking brilliantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it\u2019s not \u2018blogging by numbers\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The one thing that makes creations interesting and striking and impactful, is the clarity and power of the source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The output is merely a container for freshness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n
