{"id":47024,"date":"2022-06-09T10:29:45","date_gmt":"2022-06-09T10:29:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/?p=47024"},"modified":"2022-06-09T10:29:51","modified_gmt":"2022-06-09T10:29:51","slug":"changing-the-way-you-travel-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/2022\/06\/09\/changing-the-way-you-travel-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Changing the way you travel the world."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The first time I visited London, I loved it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instantly, immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Right from the start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I loved the streets, the houses, the buses, the parks, and the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But none of that was caused by London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For one reason or the other, I had decided to love and deeply appreciate the city even before I went there, and I took that love and excitement with me, and felt it everywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>London couldn\u2019t fuck that up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No matter how hard it rained, no matter how grey the sky was: I enjoyed it like a little kid entering a toy store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was as if I secretly covered everything with my thrilling energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I created my own version of London, from moment to moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it has been like that between the city and me ever since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you have experiences like these and you become truly aware of them, you\u2019re going to get more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What happened between me and London, this unique relationship of joy and curiosity, was simply the result of love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was in love and I took it with me to London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was in love, with life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It wouldn\u2019t surprise me if you recognize this sensation from a romantic encounter in your past or present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we fall in love with a person (and it doesn\u2019t lead to complications), it opens up a new, fresh appreciation for life, and it changes the way we experience everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We bring our deepest feelings and brightest moods into the world and everything looks and feels different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had that with London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it has stayed like that ever since, only to become deeper and deeper with every new trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week I was in Manchester for two days and I had the exact same elating experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No matter how long I had to wait at the airport, no matter how hard it rained, no matter what went &#8216;wrong&#8217;: I loved it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I infected Manchester with my joy and zest for life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And when people asked me \u2018How was it to be there, what did you like the most, and what should I visit if I ever go there?\u2019, I had no practical answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because that\u2019s not how life works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Manchester doesn\u2019t give you feelings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>London doesn\u2019t spark emotions in you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s the other way around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whatever you bring into the world, you\u2019ll see reflected back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the rain, in a rusty gate, and in the tired face of a grumpy airport employee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s no Manchester experience, or a London experience, caused by the city, caused by the location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You feel whatever you bring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imagine the journey life can be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Photo by @rolls0ut, for Unsplash)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first time I visited London, I loved it.
