{"id":47007,"date":"2022-06-07T17:08:20","date_gmt":"2022-06-07T17:08:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/?p=47007"},"modified":"2022-06-07T17:08:25","modified_gmt":"2022-06-07T17:08:25","slug":"about-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/2022\/06\/07\/about-time\/","title":{"rendered":"About time."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>For people who have a hard time believing in paradoxes: we live in one.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Literally constantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Time is a paradox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It doesn\u2019t really exist (because it\u2019s always now), but we can experience it just the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Time isn\u2019t, AND it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paradox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Easy-peasy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Does it matter to know this?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, not really.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can happily live in time (or no time) and not be bothered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But if you decide to explore this a bit further, stuff can get really interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This ever-present Now that we don\u2019t really sense because, well, it\u2019s ever-present, is the only constant factor in our lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s never not now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re never not living now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re never not now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now is who we are, this mysterious thing we don\u2019t really appreciate or notice because it doesn\u2019t stand out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The humblest of phenomena, the subtlest of things, yet without it there would be no life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And no time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It seems complicated, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only if you think about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because it\u2019s not when you don\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Life is always now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You&#8217;re always now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Life is you, you are life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not the person with its moods and different hairstyles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not your hunger, your anger, your fear, or your exhaustion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not the sound people use when they refer to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not anything that changes, which is almost everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everything but time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You are now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only always.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that\u2019s not a paradox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Photo by @murrayc, for Unsplash)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For people who have a hard time believing in paradoxes: we live in one.
