{"id":46930,"date":"2022-05-30T10:15:04","date_gmt":"2022-05-30T10:15:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/?p=46930"},"modified":"2022-05-30T11:57:08","modified_gmt":"2022-05-30T11:57:08","slug":"mental-luggage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/2022\/05\/30\/mental-luggage\/","title":{"rendered":"Mental luggage."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>I received a notification from the airline.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of severe personnel problems at the airport I will depart from, everything takes ages, and the advice was to get there extra, extra early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The taxi was already booked, so now I had to rethink the pickup time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fifteen minutes earlier?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Half an hour, even?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I started to calculate the drive, the queues, whether I would be able to have coffee and buy a book, and what would happen if everything happened to go way smoother than anticipated, and from these calculations, I tried to readjust the schedule, including the perfect time to set my alarm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a mess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And within seconds my mood dropped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This happened while I was on the elliptical doing my morning workout, and I got a sense that life was pretty shitty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, the sky was grey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the calculations went on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My mood dropped even more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There was all this heavy mental luggage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But then I received another notification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From within.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fresh consciousness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It said \u2018You are very much in your head right now, buddy, no worries\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Which immediately cleared the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because I know it\u2019s true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I know how it works, and if I forget, I\u2019ll always be reminded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ready for take-off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Photo by @philipmyr, for Unsplash)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I received a notification from the airline.
