Once I was in bed with a very smart and beautiful woman who called me ’the most intelligent man I’ve ever met’.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

True story!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She’s now married to some other dude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Yeah, so much for sapiosexuality, I guess.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was just reflecting on that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does it mean, intelligence?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does it refer to?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If it’s about IQ tests I can tell you she was waaaaay off, because I’ve never successfully finished one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Oxford dictionary, intelligence is ‘…the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But what kind of knowledge?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Any particular skills?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m extremely slow at picking up things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s only a handful of activities I’m good at.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And when it comes to facts, I might be the worst memorizer in the history of humans, and dolphins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What I DO have going for me, at least, is a very creative and productive mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know how to express myself quite well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have the ability to use words for painting stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I have a knack for talking about really abstract stuff, and making it as simple and tangible as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My imagination is crisp and sharp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So maybe you could say I’m bright.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe that’s what she meant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or maybe she was just flattering me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I guess I can be pretty na\u00efve too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
