And then I started looking for consciousness.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because figuring that out was supposed to liberate me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I listened to people who knew or claimed to know. of mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I started the search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I read books, a lot of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I listened to people who knew, or claimed to know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I reflected on it, did self-enquiry, stared at myself in the mirror for hours, asking \u2018Who am I?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And every now and then I heard this most annoying, most frustrating, most unfair thing in the world: \u2018Consciousness is all there is. And you are that.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Really?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I must have been the exception, the anomaly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe it WAS all there is, all except me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I kept looking for the Change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Shift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Divine Gold Medal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was holding on to the idea that I could somehow understand spirituality, that I could finally get it and hold it and use it, that if only I would search long and arduous and serious enough, it would be given to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The awakening thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Holy Grail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I kept on going, reading, reflecting, listening, and enquiring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Waiting for the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking for consciousness all over the place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oh man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the suffering and the longing for relief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The disappointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhaustion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Begging for the solution, for salvation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What a majestic joke!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consciousness looking for itself, as itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Constantly trying to find the thing\u2026 that is trying to find the thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hahaha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oh fuck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Consciousness is all there is. And you are that.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What a deeply annoying thing to read, or to hear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How useless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How harsh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How stupid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And how true \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n
