One of the reasons I have pulled back a lot from social media, is my highly ingrained urge to be right.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To have the right answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To know what stuff means and tell people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be the ultimate judge, the fact factory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To know it all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And to deeply believe that is true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many social platforms just tease this out of me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I scroll around there\u2019s a lot of spontaneous repulsion, frustration and superiority going on inside of me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I just don\u2019t like how that feels, at least in the long run (because in the short run it feels pretty fucking powerful and real and important).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having an opinion doesn\u2019t mean you\u2019re right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It just means you\u2019re having an opinion, which is a rather random thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We know that, kinda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What makes it very enticing to believe them, is how they are neatly wedged in between millions of other opinions and ideas, therefore creating your personal environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our opinions don\u2019t feel like opinions: they feel like the world, like the truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They feel like good and bad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So what if you want to create some space around that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most difficult thing is that everything in our life seems to revolve around opinions and assessments and judgments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are everywhere, always.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How are you doing?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you think about that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How\u2019s the weather?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is Corona just some flu and\/or part of a huge conspiracy?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are you a spiritual person?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are you happy, and if not: who\u2019s to blame?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Did you like the movie?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you think about the president?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or hotdogs?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artificial Intelligence?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Racism?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Capitalism?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new coffee at Starbucks?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And don\u2019t you agree that what is going on is horrible \/ amazing \/ scary \/ perfect \/ unfair?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is everywhere, all the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A big part of it is obviously very innocent and it even spices up life and somehow becomes part of the person we believe to be, and that is pretty cool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s just that it also keeps me in that place of always wanting to ventilate what I think about something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t want that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or at least less of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I totally get the irony that having an opinion about opinions seems to be just another opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I think it\u2019s way more than that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I believe I am wasting precious time defending ideas that only seem to be personal and true in the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think that my automatic judgments get in the way of seeing the world in a different light, and that even if I adopt an opposite opinion (which is supposed to be a good and noble thing), it\u2019s still an opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I feel much better when I don\u2019t engage in yet another daily opinion rampage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I have noticed that feeling good is an excellent gauge for the quality of my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You don\u2019t have to agree though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
