{"id":46343,"date":"2022-02-21T10:23:52","date_gmt":"2022-02-21T10:23:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/?p=46343"},"modified":"2022-02-21T21:36:12","modified_gmt":"2022-02-21T21:36:12","slug":"where-is-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/2022\/02\/21\/where-is-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Where is life?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>\u201cWhen life is easy, it\u2019s easy\u201d, I thought.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was supposed to be the beginning of an exploration in words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>About how life can be a breeze and it all just happens effortlessly, or how it can change just like that and turn into a living hell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And how you don\u2019t really learn much when it\u2019s easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But then I thought:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat IS life?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If it can feel amazing and terrifying, if it can be easy in the morning and hard in the afternoon, what is actually going on?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What happened to the life that seemed so simple five seconds ago, and now feels like the biggest fucking mess EVER?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What IS life?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Can you point it out?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is it everything around you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or is it everything inside you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or the sum of everything that is everywhere?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why is my life different from yours, and how can we all live different lives while being on the same planet?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The thing is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I can\u2019t find life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I can\u2019t sit next to you, stick out my index finger and say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLook, there it is, life!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Life doesn\u2019t happen to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are IN life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Life is us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Life is an experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And how do we experience in the first place, basically?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By thinking, and feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Life is thinking, and feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Life is like a rich, flexible idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It always changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So life is never the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it\u2019s never not life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have I lost you there?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yeah, well, that\u2019s life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Photo by @leohoho, for Unsplash)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cWhen life is easy, it\u2019s easy\u201d, I thought.
