How long will it take to get you there?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How long before you are that writer, that artist, that influencer, that example, that coach, that painter, that thought leader?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, too long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s for sure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AND exactly long enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mastering something is not just about mastering that something: it\u2019s mostly about overcoming boredom, disappointment, exhaustion, and a total lack of positive feedback and success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s why we recognize masters with so much reverence most of the time: we intuitively get what they had to go through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And we know that we didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We know about our best attempts and easily broken dreams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We know we gave up long before even the slightest sign of growth and improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We didn\u2019t really fail, per se, but we DID quit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Getting really good at something is a monumental task.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It requires a soul that sings to you and inspires you and keeps you going even if you don\u2019t want to (and there will be many moments like that).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is little fun in the pursuit of practical perfection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet there are many people who take it on and succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mastering something is like developing an extra sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After years of hard work, stuff becomes almost effortless and exquisitely elegant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training and the trying and the ‘almost-giving-up-but-not-completely’-moments elevate you, help you float and drift and soar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whatever it was you were pursuing becomes second nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that is the moment where we can finally get out of our own way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the start of continuous magic, of even more mastery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the gift, the very, very special gift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crafting it takes forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And one day it\u2019s there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
