Vineyards and orchards and golden cornfields and gurgling streams.<\/p>\n
The ocean.<\/p>\n
A quaint French village square.<\/p>\n
Abstract art.<\/p>\n
Design in general.<\/p>\n
And homes, beautiful homes.<\/p>\n
Aaaah, yes.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s a new one.<\/p>\n
So much appreciation.<\/p>\n
So many amazing places.<\/p>\n
An elevated rectangular house made of timber and glass in the woods.<\/p>\n
The vast open-plan apartment on top of a high building.<\/p>\n
A restored farmhouse in Tuscany, a minimalist Japanese abode in the mountains, or a New Zealand hide-away.<\/p>\n
Lots of white inside, and natural colors.<\/p>\n
An ever-changing display of sunlight, soft rays in low angles, subtle diffusion, welcoming shade.<\/p>\n
A peaceful wooden deck with a single chair.<\/p>\n
Elegance, simplicity, well-placed artifacts.<\/p>\n
Colorful lives, thoughtfully displayed.<\/p>\n
Locations of love and respect and tranquility.<\/p>\n
They can make me feel devastatingly sad and deeply longing.<\/p>\n
All of that is so unlike my past, so opposite.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s like every amazing place I see reminds me of a life I forgot to live.<\/p>\n
Beauty wasn\u2019t for me.<\/p>\n
Everything used to be dark and ugly and not to be enjoyed, like I constantly deserved bleak punishment.<\/p>\n
But not anymore.<\/p>\n
Now I dare to greedily drink in what is esthetically pleasing, what is elegant and crisp and vibrant and alluring.<\/p>\n
Life is beautiful.<\/p>\n
