It\u2019s an idea that derives from various spiritual and religious philosophies.<\/p>\n

And it absolutely fucks up the Western mind.<\/p>\n

How do you do nothing?<\/p>\n

Where do you start?<\/p>\n

How much nothing do you do while doing nothing?<\/p>\n

Well, it\u2019s a fairly subtle thing.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not about freezing in time, sitting on the couch like an immovable sack of meat, becoming completely motionless.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not a passive thing.<\/p>\n

\u2018Doing nothing\u2019 in a spiritual sense comes down to trust and surrender.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s about deeply realizing that life by itself moves you, and it\u2019s not your responsibility to take control and try to force the universe into submission.<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t, and you know it.<\/p>\n

\u2018Doing nothing\u2019 means learning to listen for what wants to happen through you, instead of just using the computing mind to make up plans that look rationally safe and important.<\/p>\n

The intellect is a tool, not a guide.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s really good at processing bits of information, but it sucks at making fulfilling plans or appreciating connection and beauty.<\/p>\n

It has no idea what it means to love.<\/p>\n

‘Yeah but if you do nothing, nothing will happen!’, the intellect will say, very pleased with itself, once again proclaiming its made-up importance.<\/p>\n

It’s just not true.<\/p>\n

\u2018Doing nothing\u2019 is a shift to a more intuitive way of life.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s about living from authentic inspiration, at ease, in flow.<\/p>\n

And by doing so, you might just do and create and achieve more than you ever did before.<\/p>\n

Or less, for a while.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s just completely different.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s very direct.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s effortless.<\/p>\n

So maybe we should reframe it.<\/p>\n

\u2018Do effortless.\u2019<\/p>\n

And everything will be done.<\/p>\n

How does that sound?<\/p>\n
