I hear it whenever I talk or write about spirituality and the human experience and other yummy abstract stuff like that.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s like I\u2019m criticized for my naivety, my lack of judgment and morality, or the seemingly stupid unwillingness to acknowledge the evil things that happen in the world.<\/p>\n
But here\u2019s how I see it:<\/p>\n
Life IS utterly simple.<\/p>\n
And it is also not.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s both.<\/p>\n
It is simple because it is just life<\/em>.<\/p>\n AND it is extravagantly complex and hard and devastating and unfair and harsh because we have minds that constantly tell us it is, and make us do and experience things that prove their subjective points.<\/p>\n I am not denying anything, really.<\/p>\n I totally appreciate the complexities and difficulties of life, because I live in a convincing mentally constructed world just like everybody else.<\/p>\n I get confused and fucked up.<\/p>\n I can feel dangerously angry and deeply sad and terribly lonely.<\/p>\n I do really stupid things because of my utterly enticing moods.<\/p>\n Yet, when all of that subsides (and it always does), everything is really simple again.<\/p>\n Simplicity is the underlying phenomenon.<\/p>\n Life just IS.<\/p>\n And at the same time it feels like it\u2019s not, in many, many ways.<\/p>\n But if you are able to sense a broader, less personal perspective, the two start to work together in a most magical way.<\/p>\n Knowing in a very profound way that everything will ultimately be okay (because it already is) makes every experience less daunting, and at the same time easier to accept and even indulge in.<\/p>\n Maybe there\u2019s the same amount of pain, but at least there\u2019s a lot less drama and suffering.<\/p>\n You might feel just as confused, but at the same time have a deeper and more neutral appreciation of the whole experience.<\/p>\n It\u2019s happening within you, not TO you.<\/p>\n It\u2019s the same, but is very different.<\/p>\n And it comes from a built-in liberation tool.<\/p>\n All human beings possess a unique talent: we can know that we know.<\/em><\/p>\n We can be aware of our awareness, conscious of being conscious.<\/p>\n This ever so subtle capacity (that is so obvious that most of us overlook and dismiss it completely) is actually a super power.<\/p>\n It\u2019s truly HUGE.<\/p>\n Because this universal double whammy is (at least that\u2019s how I to see it), the gateway to divine and sweet simplicity, while staying truly connected.<\/p>\n Living life consciously is like dropping into a new, more expanded layer of reality.<\/p>\n It is soothing, empowering and inspiring.<\/p>\n It allows us to be human in every possible way, without the crippling overwhelm.<\/p>\n And it is waiting for you.<\/p>\n —<\/p>\n (Photo by @anniespratt, for Unsplash)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" \u2018Yeah, if only life was so simple!\u2019, people often say to me.
