You\u2019re doing okay but you read about it, and it sounds pretty cool.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

So after meditation, after yoga, after affirmations, after all this impeccable spiritual behavior you\u2019ve shown and after therapy and all the happy books, it\u2019s time.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
For surrendering.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
I surrender.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Surrendering to life.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Ha!<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
So there you go, sitting on the couch.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u2018Okay life, sorry that I behaved like such an arrogant piece of shit all this time, but that was the old ignorant me, things will be different from now on I promise, here\u2019s the new and surrendering one, HI!\u2019<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

And you sit on your couch and work on your surrendering and wear a stupid smile on your face.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

You sit and wait and feel and wait some more.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
You close your eyes, open your arms, and, well, you surrender.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
At least that\u2019s what you\u2019re trying to do.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Letting go.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Powerfully.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
But the thing is: surrendering is not really something you do.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
It\u2019s not an activity, a specific set of movements, a thing of form.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
It\u2019s not something that gets you anywhere in time, a better place, a better you, because that would make it conditional which totally contradicts the whole idea.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Nope.<\/span><\/div>\n
It’s like a decision, made by the heart.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Surrendering is something that comes from a realization.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
It\u2019s a clear recognition of the sum of all your tension, your tightness and your fucked up stories, this miserable ball of energy, and in that recognition, the surrendering happens.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
It happens.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
It\u2019s like dropping something because you realize you never really held it in the first place.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
It\u2019s more like a non-engaging.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Like doing nothing.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Which is also not an activity.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Sounds complicated and paradoxical?<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
No worries.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Just surrender.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
