{"id":30989,"date":"2020-08-29T18:38:07","date_gmt":"2020-08-29T18:38:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/?p=30989"},"modified":"2020-08-29T18:38:07","modified_gmt":"2020-08-29T18:38:07","slug":"becoming-really-good-at-what-you-do","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marnix.nl\/homepage\/welkom\/2020\/08\/29\/becoming-really-good-at-what-you-do\/","title":{"rendered":"Becoming REALLY good at what you do."},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>If you are starting out as a coach (or any profession that relies on skills and craftsmanship), I have good news and bad news.<\/h4>\n<p>The bad news is that it takes time to create a steady stream of clients and a coaching style that is both personal and powerful.<\/p>\n<p>The good news is that it takes time to create a steady stream of clients and a coaching style that is both personal and powerful.<\/p>\n<p>It just takes time.<\/p>\n<p>And you can\u2019t skip even a second.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a learning curve and there\u2019s an earning curve, and I guess most of us make all the exact same \u2018mistakes\u2019 in the beginning, and we all have to.<\/p>\n<p>There is tremendous power in falling on your ass and getting up again, and you have to be willing to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Coaching is not just about coaching: it\u2019s also extremely important that you grow consistently as a human being, and (if you ask me) learn to truly love your spiritual nature.<\/p>\n<p>Becoming a really good coach means you have to keep exploring your own shit and madness, your own judgements and prejudices and all the silly preferences that show up as reality.<\/p>\n<p>Your coaching will benefit enormously from your willingness to learn and change and learn and change some more.<\/p>\n<p>And again: that takes time, and guts, and patience.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been coaching for a couple of years now (maybe just 4, at least in a serious way), and although that hardly counts for a career, I\u2019ve already lived through a dizzying amount of doubts and insecurities and fuck ups.<\/p>\n<p>Money has been tight very often, results and confidence too.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve created videos and blogs with various degrees of success (you can read that as a euphemism), and I coached for free a gazillion times.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve heard more fierce NO\u2019S! to my proposals than I thought I could ever handle.<\/p>\n<p>And I\u2019ve been very, very anxious and worried about my future as a coach.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple times.<\/p>\n<p>But I never stopped wanting to be an amazing one.<\/p>\n<p>Wanting it more than anything else.<\/p>\n<p>Because ever since I transitioned to this gig from my work as a creative ad person, I\u2019ve been obsessed by it.<\/p>\n<p>I consider that to be a good and very helpful thing.<\/p>\n<p>My obsession was and is powered by curiosity and a deep fascination for and desire to know why we do what we do, and how we can do more of what fulfills us.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m endlessly intrigued by the fact that people can change SO radically, that it\u2019s almost like they are born again.<\/p>\n<p>I have a very natural and deep calling to uncover the spiritual connection that feels like home, and I love to share what I\u2019ve experienced around that, from that same place.<\/p>\n<p>For me, coaching is way more than a job: it\u2019s the thing life has been preparing me for all these years, and I just know that to be true.<\/p>\n<p>And still, even though I couldn\u2019t stop myself from becoming a coach if I wanted to, it has taken a tremendous amount of perseverance to just hang in there, and arrive at a place of relative ease and trust.<\/p>\n<p>Of course I\u2019m still a beginner.<\/p>\n<p>But the momentum I\u2019ve been waiting for, seems to have kicked in a little while ago.<\/p>\n<p>So hang in there.<\/p>\n<p>It just takes time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Photo by @alex_andrews, for Unsplash)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you are starting out as a coach (or any profession that relies on skills and craftsmanship), I have good news and bad news.
