I write blogs or poems and post them on social platforms.<\/p>\n
I record videos and share them online.<\/p>\n
I invite people to spend some time with me, for free.<\/p>\n
I invest a lot of my time and energy and imagination in stuff that I just give away.<\/p>\n
And then I get pissed off\u2026 when I don\u2019t get \u2018enough\u2019 response.<\/p>\n
Ungrateful bastards!<\/p>\n
Isn\u2019t that amazing (and a bit embarrassing, too), how we can become victims of almost everything, how we expect people to be acutely aware of our hidden agendas?<\/p>\n
It\u2019s like blaming someone on the other side of the world, someone you\u2019ve never met in your life, for not remembering your birthday.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s not giving.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s doing stuff because you crave appreciation.<\/p>\n
Now that\u2019s not a bad thing by itself, and the well-crafted stuff and invitations you put out there don\u2019t have to be deliciously altruistic.<\/p>\n
Expectations aren\u2019t evil.<\/p>\n
But it just feels kinda shitty when they\u2019re not met.<\/p>\n
And it\u2019s unnecessary.<\/p>\n
Believe me: I used to do this all the time, setting myself up for disappointment, almost as if to prove that the world consists of people who don\u2019t give a fuck.<\/p>\n
Now it only happens once in a while.<\/p>\n
Because I can give way better than I used to do.<\/p>\n
And I see that as a pretty good deal.<\/p>\n
