SO many people have confided in me their deep wish to write a book.<\/p>\n
And when I ask them \u2018what\u2019s the problem, why haven\u2019t you started yet?\u2019, they tell me about how hard it is, how big the project, how gigantic the task, and how unbridgeable the gap between the nothing of now, and the finished book of the future.<\/p>\n
People don\u2019t work very well when it comes to projects they can\u2019t comprehend.<\/p>\n
Writing a book is just too big.<\/p>\n
Overcoming an addiction too much, too complex.<\/p>\n
But those are never things you do in the first place.<\/p>\n
You don\u2019t write a book; you write a sentence.<\/p>\n
You don\u2019t change from an alcoholic to somebody who easily transcends the urge to drown uncomfortable feelings:<\/p>\n
You just skip the first drink.<\/p>\n
And then another one.<\/p>\n
And the next one.<\/p>\n
Projects and changes that challenge our imagination, easily suffocate our plans.<\/p>\n
We can\u2019t handle the vastness of our insecure projections.<\/p>\n
We can\u2019t get our head around the future result of change and patient efforts.<\/p>\n
So you don\u2019t conquer the blinking cursor by suddenly drowning it in pages of perfection.<\/p>\n
You just start to type.<\/p>\n
One word is enough.<\/p>\n
One step is all it takes.<\/p>\n
