Kids are so excited.<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Every corner they turn is part of an ongoing adventure.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Every butterfly is a new butterfly and the best one ever.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Every breath they take is the first one, part of something fresh and unique.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Although they don\u2019t know all of that.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Kids don\u2019t really need spectacular, outrageous stuff, because they\u2019re still directly connected to the innate spectacle of life.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
They\u2019re not lost in ideas about how it was or how it should be, but wonder around with big open eyes in a world that is always new, always created in the moment.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
With everything they do comes this great curiosity, a wonder that overflows their being in the world, and turns life into an unfolding miracle.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Most grown-ups lose that feeling of open anticipation.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
After years of following the rules and abiding to societal ideas and getting into situations, we start to believe that we already know what will happen.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
You meet a friend but you\u2019ve met friends before.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
You see a butterfly but you know what they look like.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
You do your job, take a walk, watch a movie, kiss your partner, but you\u2019re actually reliving old days at work, old walks, old movies and old kisses.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
When we grow up, without realizing it, we start to live in subtle predictions, in neatly scripted scenarios and pre-lived situations.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
It\u2019s like life is already sucked out of everything we do, right before we do it.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
And it means that we hardly ever see what\u2019s really going on, because we unconsciously think we already know what it will be like.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
It creates a layer of same-old-same-old over most of what we come across.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
It\u2019s only sometimes that we still feel this uncontaminated, fluttering excitement.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
When we go on a special trip around the world that we have been planning for years, when we start our new job, or go on a first date.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The feelings of exhilaration are reserved for special occasions.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
We forget to look with new eyes.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
And that is a sad thing.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Because this childlike way of being in the world, this living in the moment in a most authentic and spontaneous and uncomplicated way, is the key to simplicity.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The door to a buzzing feeling of contentment.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The bridge to happiness.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Knowing that we\u2019re always able to reconnect to that familiar spirit is not just very hopeful, but also extremely exciting.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
It brings back the appreciation for corners, butterflies and breathing.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
And living like that, is like surfing on joy.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
