I am a romantic.<\/h4>\n
There, I said it.<\/div>\n
Glad we got that out of the way.<\/div>\n
Being romantic means \u2018characterized by, or suggestive of an idealized view of reality\u2019.<\/div>\n
Or \u2018conducive to or characterized by the expression of love\u2019.<\/div>\n
I like them both.<\/div>\n
(Funny how \u2018the expression of love\u2019 gets close to \u2018an idealized view of reality\u2019, by the way.)<\/div>\n
Most of my life has felt like I was in a movie.<\/div>\n
A lot of deep drama and sadness, many black alcohol and depressions induced years, and some relationships that were sweetly Hollywood-inspired in the beginning, but eventually turned into obsessively dependent, raging shitstorms.<\/div>\n
I hear music when it\u2019s not there, like a hidden soundtrack.<\/div>\n
Violins, mostly.<\/div>\n
I love daydreaming, and if it was something people got paid for, I\u2019d be a billionaire.<\/div>\n
While in the forest, I always hope that a bird will land on my hand and tell me a secret.<\/div>\n
And I tend to spice up my memories, as if life itself is just a little too dull and average, and needs some tweaking.<\/div>\n
It\u2019s not really lying, more a form of adjustment.<\/div>\n
As a romantic I see storylines and plots everywhere, and I deeply believe in the power of serendipity.<\/div>\n
Life is not just a random event: we\u2019re here to learn and do stuff.<\/div>\n
Although I\u2019ve never seen them, I don\u2019t mind the idea of angels helping out.<\/div>\n
The romantic is in love with his or version of life, and I like to think that we accommodate the world with a thin, subtle layer of magic for everyone to enjoy.<\/div>\n
This existence, this colorful and deeply engaging experience, has meaning.<\/div>\n
A lot.<\/div>\n
And if it hasn\u2019t (who really knows?), I embrace the fact that I can believe in it anyway.<\/div>\n
And maybe the meaning of life is that you can give it meaning.<\/div>\n
Did I tell you I love life?<\/div>\n
So next time you see a guy with a modest beard standing at the side of the road, staring at a field of purple and pink and red and orange flowers with glittering eyes, it\u2019s probably me.<\/div>\n
